Netflix Orders New Show From Bob Odenkirk and David Cross

Netflix has gotten the gang back together…or at least the main two guys.

Deadline is reporting that the streaming provider has just ordered a new comedy series from Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, the men behind the uber-popular mid-90s HBO comedy series Mr. Show With Bob And David.

The new series, titled With Bob and David, is set to air four half-hour episodes with a one hour making of special. Odenkirk and Cross described the new program thusly:

After being dishonorably discharged from the Navy SEAL, Bob and David are back serving our country the way they do best: making sketch comedy. Four half-hours of brand-new comedy featuring all new characters, all new scenes and, most importantly, all new wigs.

Odenkirk and Cross found cult success with the sketch comedy show. It ran for four seasons on HBO and is still highly regarded by fans today. Both actors went on to success after the show – Bob Odenkirk became everyone’s favorite slimy lawyer Saul Goodman on the hit AMC series Breaking Bad and the new spinoff prequel Better Call Saul, while David Cross is best known as Tobias Funke from the quirky sitcom Arrested Development (which coincidentally also airs on Netflix).

Right before the calendar changed to 2015, Mr. Show alum Paul F. Tompkins tweeted a photo of the cast at some kind of reunion with a question of “something new coming from the Mr. Show gang in the New Year?”

As of now Bob and David are the only regulars announced to appear on With Bob and David, but I expect that to change in the near future. The gang has gotten together for a myriad of mini-reunions in the past, so I don’t see how they all couldn’t get the old crew back and make comedy magic one more time.

The show has just started production. No date for release was given at this time.
