Great news everyone – Billie Lourd will be back in Star Wars Episode VIII and she may have a bigger role than she did in The Force Awakens.
Most hardcore SW fans know who Lourd is but the uninitiated may be asking who she is. First and foremost she is the daughter of Carrie Fisher a.k.a. Princess / General Leia. As for her role in The Force Awakens, the actress had an almost blink-and-you’ll-miss-it role as Lieutenant Connix, a soldier under the General. Connix has one line – “General, are you seeing this?” – and then she’s done.
At Paleyfest this past weekend, Lourd was in attendance for the FOX show Scream Queens, which she is on. When asked a few times about her participation Lourd was very cagey and guarded in her reposnses.
When asked if Rian Johnson is using her in Episode VIII:
“Yes,” Lourd said. “I can’t say much about it but yes.”
When asked what projects are in her immediate future:
“I am working on Star Wars VIII but that’s all I can say,” she said.
It’s safe to say she knows how to toe the company line when it comes to keeping her lips sealed regarding a high profile project like this.
We’ll find out more about this film in the coming months. There is still a loooooong way to go before Star Wars Episode VIII drops in the holiday season of 2018, so I’m sure more hints will drop as the seasons change.
