When John Wick became a surprise breakout hit in 2014, Lionsgate was already quietly at work to bring a sequel to the hungry masses.

Now, according to the Theatrical Motion Pictures Group, it has been confirmed that the world will indeed get John Wick 2!

Directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski will return to helm the flick and screenwriter Derek Kolstad has also signed on to return. Alongside the behind-the-camera team, actor Keanu Reeves will also return to star as the titular badass himself.

Jason Constantine, President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions at Lionsgate had the following to say:

“With such tremendous fan and critical support for John Wick, we knew that there was still so much more of this story to tell. We are thrilled that Keanu, David and Chad have re-teamed with us and promise to bring audiences even more excitement the second time around.”

This is awesome news. John Wick was a fun film that had a ton of great action. Not only that, but it really felt like a fully realized world in which I would gladly watch a film about any one of those characters. Plus it was good to see Keanu return to return to form and become a box office draw again. Hopefully he can parlay this into a new franchise for himself.
