Just a week after a nice little behind the scenes photo leaked of Chris Pine and previously unannounced actor Said Taghmaoui on the set of Wonder Woman we now get our first official photo, courtesy of Gal Gadot’s twitter account:

An interesting picture. Big Ben is in the background, but that was to be expected as production was said to be taking place in London. But the immediate background is the more interesting bit. With the columns and abundant foliage, could this be our first glimpse at Themyscira, also known as Paradise Island, the hidden home of the Amazons?

Not only did Wonder Woman herself send out this tweet, Warner Bros dropped an official press release that named quite a few interesting new cast members.

Joining Gadot, Pine and Taghmaoui will be Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremmer, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis.

Nicole Kidman was rumored to be in consideration for a role in the film (possibly playing Wonder Woman’s mother and leader of the Amazons, Queen Hippolyta) but there doesn’t seem to be any confirmation of her involvement at this time.

Rumors were abound a few months back saying that WB was eyeing Eva Green and Sean Bean to play the villains Circe and Ares respectively. Looking over the new cast list could those roles now be played by Robin Wright and Danny Huston? I could see Wright as the villainous witch while Huston would make quite an intimidating God of War.

Hopefully more news becomes available as production continues. Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins, is set to hit theaters June 23, 2017.
