Sam Raimi’s Next Film Will Be….

Simple Plan Quad

Sam Raimi has signed on to produce and possibly direct ‘The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor’, a true story about 53 soldiers who fended off nearly 400 Taliban soldiers on the Afghanistan/Pakistan Border  in 2009.

Sam Raimi on ‘The Outpost’:

“’The Outpost’ is an epic story of bravery, courage, and sacrifice of our men in uniform, and is absolutely a picture meant for the big screen. I’m honored to be a part of it.”

The script will be written by ‘The Fighter’ Duo of Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson.

It would be nice to see Raimi make a film without so many fantastic elements. Don’t get me wrong, I love his Evil Dead films, Darkman and Drag me to Hell but my favorite Sam Raimi film is without a doubt ‘A Simple Plan’. With that film he showcased his film making chops in a way that a ‘Spiderman’ film never could. ‘The Outpost’ sounds like a great story, but one we’ve seen before, ‘Black Hawk Down’ and ‘Lone Survivor’ jump to mind. I’d like to see him do something a little different.

Either way, a new Sam Raimi film is always good news. As long as Bruce Campbell is in there it can’t go wrong…
