It was a sad day when John Alvin passed away in 2008. Not just because of what an immense talent he was. It also meant there was one less artist designing movie posters, something that had become increasingly scarce in the era of Photoshop.

On August 16th Titan Books will be releasing ‘The Art of John Alvin’, a retrospective on the career of one of the great movie poster artists of the modern age.
