Actor T.J. Miller will be bringing his unique type of comedy to the virtual world. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Miller has inked a deal to join the cast of the upcoming Steven Spielberg film Ready Player One.

The movie, an adaptation of the Ernest Cline novel of the same name, takes place in a future where most live their lives  plugged into a virtual world known as the OASIS. After the death of its eccentric Co-creator, scores obsess over the  hunt for the mysterious egg, a prize left behind that promises untold riches and control of the entire VR world.

The book is chock full of 80’s references – from video games to music and movies, Ready Player One is Cline’s love letter to a bygone era.

Miller has been cast as i-R0k, a person who goes into online forums simply to cause trouble – or in internet parlance, a troll.

The cast also includes Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg and Ben Mendelsohn.

Originally scheduled for Christmas 2017, Warner Bros moved the film to avoid direct competition with Star Wars: Episode VIII (which itself moved from Spring 2017 to the aforementioned Holiday slot). We can all expect to be able to plug in and tune out to Ready Player One on March 30, 2018.
