Australian actor Ben Mendolsohn just jumped on a lot of people’s radars. The actor is being rumored to be up for a role in the upcoming Star Wars-universe stand-alone film Rogue One, according to Deadline.
The film has already cast Felicity Jones in the female lead. Gareth Edwards, director of the awesome sci-fi flick Monsters as well as the 2014 American version of Godzilla, is signed on to helm this film from a script by Chris Weitz.
No word yet on who Mendelsohn will play, but he’d be a fool not to climb into the cockpit for Disney and LucasFilm. A Star Wars film can only work for his exposure to the American movie-going audience. Most people may already recognize him from his roles in the films Exodus: Gods and Kings and Black Sea or his critically acclaimed Netflix series Bloodline, which debuted last week.
The first planned non-episodic Star Wars film is set to hit theaters December 16, 2016.
