Warner Bros and Sony in Tug-of-war for Phil Lord and Chris Miller

Ever since The LEGO Movie impressed a lot of people, Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been very much in demand. The duo were also responsible for directing the insanely funny 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street. They can do action and comedy extremely well. Which is no surprise that rumors are rumbling that Warner Bros and Sony both want them for upcoming films.

These are purely rumors at the moment from Latino Review and The Wrap’s Meet the Movie Press podcast. But they are pretty fun rumors. Apparently Warner Bros wants the pair for the big screen version of The Flash while Sony wants them for Ghostbusters.

Sony’s move makes sense. With the studio probably losing the Russo brothers to Marvel’s Avengers: The Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2, they are now in the market for someone else to helm the possible Channing Tatum-led Ghostbusters. Who better than Lord and Miller, a set of directors already familiar with Tatum.

On the other hand, they could jump to Warner Bros. If WB is looking to do Wally West as the Fastest Man Alive, they need a director (or directors) that can mix action and light-heartedness. While there really isn’t anyone clamoring for the job of Flash director right now (and it’s not too high on the priority list quiet yet), Lord and Miller could cement their legacy by getting to helm a big budget studio film.

Either way, it’ll be interesting to see if these rumors pan out to be true. I’m personally leaning toward The Flash. If I can’t get Grant Gustin and company on the silver screen, I at least want someone directing it whose work I like.

Which way would you rather see them sway readers?
