Some News Regarding What the Future May Hold for Fox’s X-Men Films

We had a couple of news items drop for what may lie ahead for the merry mutants over at FOX.

First up is a picture that X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer posted to Instagram. It was him in front of the door that usually leads to Cerebro, the device Professor Charles Xavier uses to help find mutants in the world. I say usually because Singer posted the picture with the following text:

“I know. Old door. But there’ll be something new behind it. #XmenApocalypse”

With the X-Men franchise essentially getting a reboot at the end of Days of Future Past, Singer could be looking to shake things up and deliver some things that we wouldn’t normally expect. But now the question remains: What could be behind that door?

Another interesting item is what Patrick Stewart said on the Oregon Live website. First he contradicted himself from an earlier interview and stated that Ian McKellan may indeed be involved in the upcoming Apocalypse film.

The second thing Stewart said was that the third solo Wolverine film may be a team-up film with Logan and Professor X. This would also jibe with the rebooted universe. At the end of DOFP, the Professor did say that he and Logan had a lot of catching up to do.

The third Wolverine movie, which is slated to hit theaters in 2017, has been in talks since the 2013 James Mangold-directed film performed so well at the box office. This is the first time that any possible plot details have been discussed. It could just be wishful thinking on Stewart’s part, but like I said prior, it would make sense with the current storylines.
