Seems to be the week of Marvel/Netflix Television, with Luke Cage dropping this past Friday and now two new looks at Marvel’s future ventures in collaboration with Netflix, it’s time to get excited!
Yesterday Marvel Entertainment announced a release date for the upcoming Iron Fist series. Along with that announcement came a first look image and synopsis. Releasing next year on March 17th, Iron Fist follows the story of Daniel Rand (Finn Jones), a martial arts expert who returns to New York after an extended time missing. Armed with the mighty “Fist of Iron”, Daniel prepares to take on a rising evil in the big apple. Check out the premise and first look image of Rand kicking ass below:
“Marvels Iron Fist follows the journey of Daniel Rand as he returns to New York, after being missing for years, to fight against the criminal element corrupting the city with his incredible Kung-Fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist”.
Alongside this official announcement comes a barrage of new photo’s straight out of Brooklyn, New York. The on set images are confirmation that The Punisher spin-off series starring Jon Bernthal has begun filming.

The images come from the site Just Jared, and show off an unfamiliar Punisher, sporting a hoodie, boots and beard, these snapshots are ripe for speculation and raise question marks regarding the shows story.
The Punisher series has yet to be given an official release date, and very little is actually known about this hotly anticipated standalone series. Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) has been confirmed as the showrunner, and is set to write the first two episodes. I for one can’t hold in my excitement for this, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher was without a doubt the standout character of Daredevil season 2, bringing an unforgettable performance that the anti-hero has deserved for a long while.
Marvels Iron Fist will be available on Netflix as of March 17th 2017. The Punisher is still without a release date. Stay tuned for more info as we get it!
