Joss Whedon’s next big project won’t be on the big OR small screen. It probably won’t be viewable on your tablet, but it will be handheld.
The Avengers director and Marvel Phase Two guru announced at San Diego Comic-Con that his next project will be a six-issue comic book series called Twist.
Whedon said that he wanted to do a project that he loved (ouch, Marvel) and that meant putting pen to paper and writing a comic. When it comes down to premise, the filmmaker kept it simple: “It basically deals with the most important question there is, which is why isn’t there a Victorian female Batman?”
That will sell a lot of people on the project. Whedon is extremely good at creating believable, relatable young female characters that don’t feel like caricatures or phonies.
The series will call Dark Horse its home. There was preview art provided by Julian Totino Tedesco at Hall H for the fans to ogle.
No release date has been set as of yet for the first issue.
