Yesterday we reported on some rather juicy rumors regarding who is being looked at to star in Warner Bros upcoming Justice League Dark film. Now we’ve got word as to who the studio is looking at to direct.

At first it seemed as though Guillermo del Toro was going to put his distinctive flair on another supernatural comic book property, but that fell through. Then it was rumored that George Miller was going to try his hand at the dark underbelly of the DC Universe, but those plans fell through as well.

According to JoBlo the current shortlist has two (technically three) top contenders. First is the Big Bad Wolves duo of Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado. The other director being looked at is Fede Alvarez, whose Evil Dead remake was one of the best remakes in recent Hollywood history.

Casting rumors came through yesterday with names like Colin Farrell, Ron Perlman and Ben Mendelsohn on the studio’s wish list. There was even word that Mendelsohn wouldn’t sign until the film had a director firmly locked down.

Hopefully this puts the film a little closer to becoming a reality. While characters like Madame Xanadu, Etrigan and Deadman wouldn’t be able to carry their own feature film, a fun team movie is just what comic book fans need every once in a while.
