Kevin Eastman Selling The Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Sketch!

Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird created the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ 30 years ago this year. Rumor has it, they were sharing beers and eating pizza one night while brainstorming and the idea for the Ninja Turtles came out as a joke. The concept arose as a parady of four of the most popular comics of the early 80’s: Daredevil, The New Mutants, Cerebus and Frank Miller’s Ronin.

The rest is history. That drawing spawned an empire that is still going strong to this day. Between the Nickelodeon animated series and a Michael Bay produced TMNT film, it can be argued that the heroes in a half-shell are going as strong as ever.

Kevin Eastman has decided to part with the Holy Grail of TMNT collectibles, his original Ninja Turtle sketch from that storied evening at this years Comic-Con. He’s doing it for a good cause, with some of the money raised going to charity.

The Price? A cool 2 million dollars.

Eastman stated, “After 30 years of owning it, I think it is time to find a new home. We have a bunch of different charities we work with, and want to spread some turtle cheer to them. It just feels like the right time to let it go.”
