‘American Horror Story’ Loses One but Gains a Pair

Recently at Paleyfest, American Horror Story: Hotel had a handful of announcements about some new cast members as well as a familiar face who won’t be returning.

Sadly Jessica Lange will not be returning for the fifth season of FX’s horror anthology. While on the show, Lange played a washed-up Southern belle, a twisted nun, an aging witch and a freakshow ringmaster. She garnered a handful of awards, including two Emmys, for her portrayals of varying characters.

But while one door closes a window opens. Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson will be joining the show. While both actors had nothing to say about their characters, Bomer did say that he “can’t confirm or deny that there might be a love interest” with co-star Lady Gaga.

Bomer was on the last season as a gay prostitute who was fooling around with Michael Chiklis’ character of strongman Dell Toledo. Bomer was eventually killed off by psychopathic serial murderer Dandy Mott, played with evil glee by Finn Wittrock.

No other returning cast members were announced at the panel. I’ve said it before – I’d love for Chiklis to come back for the next season. I think the former Vic Mackey and FX go together like peanut butter and chocolate.

No premiere date was set, but if FX sticks to tradition we should see the newest season of AHS sometime around Halloween this year.
