The filmmakers behind the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel are crushing it when it comes to adding top notch talent for this movie.

After signing Tyler Perry as Baxter Stockman, Brian Tee as Shredder and Stephen Amell as Casey Jones, as well as seeing UFC fighter CM Punk for a potential role, another name has been added to the cast list.

The Hollywood Reporter has sources that tell them three-time Oscar nominated actress Laura Linney has signed on for an undislcosed role in the next chapter of the TMNT saga.

Linney has stayed away from big studio fare as of late. The actress has focused on more serious dramas and period pieces where she can show her acting chops. It looks like being a new mom has opened her up to possibly taking some different roles in more family friendly fare that she can show to her child (when the 1-year old becomes a little more aware of what Mom does, of course).

This movie has been full of weird yet intriguing casting news. Let’s hope the story lives up to the actors that have signed on to it.

I guess what I’m saying is I can’t wait to see the turtles take on Madea.
