‘Casino Royale’ Director Martin Campbell to Helm ‘Sebastian X’

2015 is shaping up to be a busy year if Martin Campbell keeps this up. Recently it was announced that Campbell will jump back in the director’s chair for Sebastian X from Voltage Pictures and Gale Anne Hurd’s Vallhala Motion Pictures.

Deja Vu scribe Bill Marsilii is adapting the property based on the original Humanoids graphic novel publication of the same name by author Michelangelo La Neve and illustrator Stuart Immonen. Published in 2005, the story of Sebastian X kicks off with an elite cop who, upon surviving a near-fatal injury, is implanted with the memories of a world-class terrorist in order to infiltrate his group and foil their next attack.
I, for one, enjoyed Campbell’s work revamping the 007 brand with Casino Royale so Sebastian X might possibly have a great formula on its hands. I love the sci-fi/espionage element here that could sell really well if applied correctly, which makes it so easy to see why Paramount also wants Campbell for G.I. Joe 3. No word on when production is slated to begin but the studio is aiming for a 2016 release date.
