Scarlett Johansson isn’t afraid to show her wild side, and the newest project she’s picked shows just that.
According to The Wrap, the actress has signed on for the raunchy comedy Move That Body from Sony. The film is said to be a combination of The Hangover and Weekend at Bernie’s.
Sony acquired the film during an intense bidding war over the summer. Broad City director Lucia Aniello will direct this film from a script she co-wrote with Paul W. Downs.
Downs will also co-star in the film alongside Johansson.
I like that Scarlett is trying something different with a project like this. Hopefully films like this and Sisters (starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler) show the movie-going audineces that the ladies can bring the funny just as well as the men can, even in the R-rated world.
No word on when production will begin on this but it might be a little ways off. Johansson has some major press junkets in her future, with Captain America: Civil War and The Jungle Book forthcoming, and she’s also signed up for DreamWorks’ live-action adaptation of the popular anime The Ghost in the Shell in her future.
