FOX has had intents on putting out yet another iteration of the oft adapted Agatha Christie story Murder on the Orient Express. But this version just got more interesting than the usual book-to-film story.

The Wrap is reporting that Kenneth Branagh has been in talks to helm the upcoming film.

Branagh has a stellar pedigree of work. Not only is he an accomplished thespian but he’s one hell of a director. His work on Thor was phenomenal, I enjoyed what he did in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and his Cinderella was Murder on the Orient Expressone of the better films I’ve seen this year.

Once the deal is finalized, word is that the director will work on gathering an A-list cast to make this a film that gets people talking.

The story follows Christie’s famous detective Hercule Poirot as he investigates the murder of an American business tycoon on board a train.

The film was first announced in 2013, but languished a bit until Green Lantern and Blade Runner 2 screenwriter Michael Green came on board earlier this year.

Nothing in regards to a time frame in terms of filming or possible release dates were given at this time.
