News of an Evil Dead TV show broke a few months back and now it looks like we’re even closer to it being a glorious reality!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Starz has green lit Ash vs The Evil Dead as a 10 Episode half-hour series that is scheduled to begin airing in 2015.

The best part is that along with Bruce Campbell, original director Sam Raimi and producer Rob Tappert will also be involved with the show. Raimi will helm the first episode that he will co-write with his brother Ivan and Tom Spezialy.

Let’s put this in perspective, over the past 30+ years we’ve gotten 250 minutes of Bruce Campbell battling the evil dead in three films, The Evil Dead, The Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. Next year we’ll have upwards of 300 minutes!

Says director/Evil Dead director Sam Raimi, “Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it”

Producer Rob Tappert adds, “I’m really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide — it’s going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor,” said Campbell. “Starz has always been a great creative partner and we are excited to be working with them on this project.”

I’m beyond excited to see the continued adventures of Ash in his never ending battle with the deadites. It seems that with all of the original crew involved this will be a fitting continuation of what we were given in Campbell and Raimi’s original film trilogy.

Would it be too much to ask that Ash vs The Evil Dead continue right where the director’s cut ending left poor Ash? I don’t want to push it…
