Could a ‘Gone Girl’ Sequel Actually Happen?

I’ve read the book and I’ve seen the movie. I absolutely love what Gillian Flynn did in both versions of Gone Girl and even said in my review of the book that I wouldn’t mind if she gave us a peek at the life of the Dunnes a few years down the line.

Well it looks like we may get that peek a little sooner than we think.

In an interview with the New York Daily News, the author was aksed about the possibilty of a sequel and she didn’t exactly say “No.”

Flynn was quoted as saying “There could be a sequel at some point if everyone is game to get the gang back together, it could be really fun a few years from now to pick it up and see what those crazy Dunnes are up to a few years down the road and if they got on—not well I don’t think.”

She also added one major caveat though – “I would have to have the exact same people to do it—I would want Rosamund [Pike], Ben [Affleck] and Fincher to do it.”

We’ve got at least three quarters of the team returning for the recently announced Strangers On A Train remake, with Pike being the only one not participating.

Gone Girl made over $365 million at the worldwide box office and is probably going to be up for a bunch of Oscar noms. This is studio catnip for a sequel order. I’d rather see a book first and not one born from studio tie-in mandate though. But if Flynn and the gang want to return to this cast of crazy characters I’m willing to give it a shot.
