I’m sad to know that the end of NBC’s Hannibal is drawing ever closer with each new episode that airs. But in the closing episodes, it would seem that showrunner Bryan Fuller wants to go out with a bang.
Finally adapting the main story from the Thomas Harris novel Red Dragon, the inspiration for the show itself, NBC released a five minute trailer to promote the coming of Francis Dolarhyde a.k.a. The Tooth Fairy a.k.a. The Red Dragon.
Richard Armitage, taking over from such luminaries as Tom Noonan (Manhunter) and Ralph Fiennes (Red Dragon), has already started to promote the differences between the NBC show and the two feature films that showcased this twisted character:
There were two movies that spent about 90 minutes on that story, but we have six episodes and the book [Red Dragon] is incredibly detailed. So we get to look at the backstory and open up that story to include his innocence with his darkness. His story isn’t told in a linear way. You learn of his crimes first, and then retrace where they came from.
You can check out the official trailer below:
I’m excited for these episodes, as this is a show that fires on all cylinders and delivers some of the greatest story with the most stylish dialogue to date. It’s too bad that it’s not likely to continue for a fourth season, or even the rumored feature film.
