Amy Poehler has brought Joy into all our lives this year with her role in the critically acclaimed film Inside Out. But now she wants to show us she has…Balls.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Poehler will join up with her Sisters co-star Ike Barinholtz for an upcoming basketball comedy. THR says it’s untitled as of this time, but Empire seems to have word that the project will run under the title Balls.
The Parks and Recreation alum plays a down on her luck former basketball coach. Out of nowhere, she’s contacted by the NBA to see if she’d be interested in coaching a team. She soon finds that being “the first” comes with lots of extra pressure to succeed.
Barinholtz will star in the film alongside Poehler as well as tackle the script with writing partner David Stassen.
Amy Poehler is a phenomenally funny actress. There were few things funnier than when she was tackling the “Boy’s Club” issues on episodes of Parks and Rec. From what little interaction we see on the trailer for Sisters it at least looks like she and Barinholtz have some good chemistry onscreen.
No word yet on when Universal plans to start production on this or even when they have it penciled in on the release date schedule.
