After the blockbuster news that Christian Bale will play Steve Jobs in the new biopic, the folks at The Wrap are now reporting that Seth Rogen and Jessica Chastain are also being courted for roles as well.
The new film is set to be directed by Danny Boyle from a script written by Aaron Sorkin. The film is expected to follow Jobs through three high stress phases of his life, including the launch of the first Macintosh computer in 1984 and the 2001 debut of the iPod.
While no deals are in place for either actor just yet, it’s being rumored that Rogen is wanted for the role of Steve Wozniak, creator of the Apple I computer and co-creator of the Apple II computer. The role for Chastain has yet to be identified.
While mostly known for his comedic roles, Rogen has proven he has the chops to play it serious. I thought he was outstanding in Funny People and 50/50.
Rogen teaming with Bale is being compared to when Martin Scorsese teamed Rogen’s friend Jonah Hill up with Leonardo DiCaprio for The Wolf Of Wall Street. That pairing led to Hill’s second Oscar nomination. How hilarious would it be, after all the stoner comedies and everything else, to see Seth Rogen nominated for Best Supporting Actor?
Honestly, you had me at Aaron Sorkin and Danny Boyle. I can’t see any reason why this pairing won’t give us an excellent end product. Sorkin is adapting the screenplay from the biography written by Walter Isaacson, which Jobs had authorized before his death in 2011.
