Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg Bringing ‘The Six Billion Dollar Man’ To Screens in 2016

Well it looks like the Six Million Dollar Man will now be the Six Billion Dollar man due to inflation. Peter Berg is attached to direct with Mark Wahlberg starring as Steve Austin. We’d heard rumblings about Berg and Wahlberg teaming up way back in July.

For those of you who don’t know about the TV series, Steve Austin was a test pilot for the US Government who crashed an experimental plane. He was on the verge of death when the government stepped in and replaced both legs, his right arm and left eye with bionics. He performed mission s for the OSI (Office of Scientific Intelligence).

The film version has traveled a long road over the years, from Kevin Smith’s script to Jim Carrey and Todd Philips’ comedic take that never quite got off the ground.

Steve Austin was the original RoboCop in every sense and he was much cooler. The whole concept is based on the 1972 novel “Cyborg” by Martin Caidin. Bob Weinstein will be producing through Dimension Films and “The Six Billion Dollar Man” is now looking at a 2016 release.

I for one am stoked to hear this news. This was one of the first TV shows I remember watching when I was younger. I hope they can find a part for Lee Majors who played the original Steve Austin. This has the makings of a terrific franchise. Your thoughts?
