Martin Freeman to do ‘The Taliban Shuffle’ With Tina Fey and Margot Robbie

Between The Hobbit films, FX’s Fargo, and Sherlock, Martin Freeman has certainly been in-demand lately.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Freeman is currently circling a part on the black comedy The Taliban Shuffle. The film, based on the book by journalist Kim Barker’s, centers on her “arrival as a fish out of water in Kabul, filing stories about militants, being a woman in wartime Iraq and Pakistan, and dealing with boredom interspersed with dashes of violence and the promiscuous war-correspondent culture.”

Freeman is in talks to star as a Scottish photojournalist who will play the unexpected love interest of Tina Fey.

Margot Robbie has already signed on to play a “competing hard-core on-air reporter”.

Fey is also onboard to produce along with the man who owns many an SNL castmember’s soul, Lorne Michaels.

I’ve been a fan since seeing him as Tim in the original UK version of The Office. He’s quietly accrued a tremendous filmography over the years including Shaun of the Dead, Love Actually, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and The World’s End. As far as I’m concerned, the more Martin Freeman we get, the better.

I’m genuinely looking forward to see Tina Fey grow as an actor. I think she has a much higher ceiling than most people think. Take a look at her in This is Where I Leave you. Considering the Material,The Taliban Shuffle could be a move to the next level for her.
