First Look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Oliver Stone’s ‘Snowden’

Following hot on the heels of the Academy Award winning film about Edward Snowden, CitizenFour, Open Road films has provided our first look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Oliver Stone’s Snowden.

I’m very curious how Stone is going to play out the story of Snowden. Upon hearing that there were plans to make a feature narrative of Snowden’s story, my first thought was “They’d be silly not to pull Oliver Stone in for this one.” Stone has never been shy about shining a light on the U.S.A’s warts, whether it’s Vietnam, the JFK Assassination, or a disgraced president.

I can’t imagine he’ll be able to make a more compelling film than Laura Poitras’ CitizenFour, but he’s assembled a nice cast. Besides Gordon-Levitt as Edward Snowden, the film will also feature Shailene Woodley, Scott Eatwood, Nicolas Cage, Timothy Olyphant, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Joely Richardson, Melissa Leo and Rhys Ifans.

What do you think? Does Stone have it in him to make a worthy movie on the Snowden story with this cast he’s assembled?
