If it ain’t broke don’t fix it – or in this case, if it’s already broken, why bother fixing it if it’s just going to get smashed into a billion little pieces anyway.

After saying that Transformers: Age of Extinction was his last go-round in the ‘bots universe, director Michael Bay has confirmed that he’ll be back for the fifth installment.

While promoting his new film 13 Hours to Rolling Stone, Bay said that he’d be back for the next film and that Paramount recently held sessions with their writing team for a new direction for the franchise.

Mark Wahlberg, who starred in the last film (which was a soft reboot to usher in new fans) has been tapped to star in this one as well.

But what does the future hold for Bay and the Robots in Disguise? He insisted to Rolling Stone that this would be his last hurrah.

“Transformers, I still have a great time. It’s fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else,” he said.

With how atrocious Age of Extinction was, they can only go up from here, right?
