It wouldn’t be San Diego Comic-Con without big news regarding at least one huge movie. And this year it doesn’t get any bigger than Star Wars.

After news dropped that we wouldn’t be getting a new trailer, fans were a little bummed out. But the news that came out of the Star Wars panel totally made up for that.

First is the confirmation that uber-fanboy Simon Pegg will be in The Force Awakens. Unfortunately we probably won’t recognize him. Pegg was seen wearing an alien costume without the head on. So he’ll be covered from head to toe. It may not even be his voice that they use (if he even has any lines at all). But just the fact that he’ll be there in some way is probably more than enough for him.

“My life is now complete,” Pegg said.

There is now confirmation as to who Domnhall Gleeson will play. He will be a “flat out evil” character named General Hux. The General is a new character to the SW universe. He is in charge of the First Order’s primary base, Starkiller.

Now, astute fans will notice the little easter egg there. In George Lucas’ original treatment, Starkiller was the last name for Luke instead of Skywalker. The name was eventually used later on in non-canon stories, but this is a neat little nod to Lucas on the big screen.

SW TIE FIGHTER

We also got out first confirmed look at a new starship. The First Order TIE Fighter isn’t a drastic overhaul, but the new red and black paint scheme makes it look badass.

The biggest news came when Harrison Ford hit the stage. The veteran actor appeared in the latter half of the event and even told the fans how appreciative he was to be back in the fold as Han Solo:

“It felt great,” Ford said. “The original Star Wars was the beginning of my working life, so it was great to be back. Thank you.”

Finally, StarWars.com managed to get the official behind-the-scenes video shown in Hall H:

We’ve also pulled some great images from the behind the scenes video for you to pour over as there is some really great stuff that flashes by. Take a look!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit theaters later this year on December 18.
