Season 2 of Netflix’s Daredevil was a big step up from its mostly solid freshman series. Among the high point’s for most fans was Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle aka The Punisher. The series took a mostly one note character and added some depth and much needed heart that has been absent from all of the previous big screen versions.
Due to overwhelming fan response, rumors had been swirling that The Punisher was destined for his own series but nothing had been made official. Until today, that is. Netflix took to their official Twitter to announce that “The Punisher is back. Locked and loaded.”

Word is that Hannibal’s Steven Lightfoot will be showrunner on The Punisher, but currently there’s not much else known. We’ll keep you updated as more information breaks.
I’m excited to see more of Bernthal exploring the character of Frank Castle in Marvel’s Netflix universe.
