A few weeks ago we had reported that Mike Colter had been reading with several actress’s who were up for the role of Jessica Jones in the Netflix series, A.K.A. Jessica Jones. Now we can confirm that Marvel has announced that Colter himself will play Luke Cage, who will debut in the Jones series before branching out in his own.
The 13-part Jessica Jones series will air after Daredevil, but neither show has a confirmed air date. According to the official character description,”During the course of an investigation in New York City, private investigator Jessica Jones encounters the enigmatic Luke Cage – a man whose past has secrets that will dramatically alter Jessica in ways she could never have imagined.”
Colter is best known for starring in The Good Wife, American Horror Story, and Xbox series Halo: Nightfall. Now with Colter playing Luke Cage, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones & Charlie Cox as Daredevil, the only character left to cast is Iron Fist. One all the series have run their course, the characters will join together for a Defenders mini-series slated for 2016.
