Billie Lourd Will NOT be Playing a Young Princess Leia in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

When Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, was rumored to have joined the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the good money was that she’d play Leia Organa in flashbacks.

Being that she currently bares a strong resemblance to her mother in her Star Wars heyday made it an understandable conclusion, right?

Well, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress confirmed that she would not be playing the character that her mother made famous.

ET: From what I understand, you play a young Princess Leia…?

Lourd: That’s a lie. That’s a rumor. I wish I played a young Princess Leia. Disney, I’m available.

This seems to fire some holes in a theory that’s made the rounds for quite a while, that there is a flashback scene in the film, which would be a first for the series. This doesn’t mean that there isn’t a flashback, but considering that Lourd’s casting was the thing that sparked that rumor, it doesn’t seem as likely.

So now the question is what character Lourd is playing in the Star Wars universe? Her role is likely bigger than an extra or cameo, but now that we know she’s not Leia it’s anyone’s guess as to just who she plays.
