It would seem like Bryan Singer is channeling his inner Chuck Palahniuk.

The director recently shared pictures from the set of X-Men: Apocalypse on Instagram and in them we see Ben Hardy, the actor who portrays Angel, in some kind of underground mutant fight club.

This is an interesting way to introduce Angel. If the winged mutant is being held against his will and Apocalypse frees him from his cage, then that is great motivation for Angel to join up on the side of the devils. It also lets the audience see some mutants that might not make it into the film otherwise as fun little Easter eggs.

If this fight club is run by humans and is exploiting mutants, then Angel would have some rage he needs to vent – and an angry young mind is much easier to manipulate than one that is thinking clearly.

We’ll definitely be seeing more of this when X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters next spring.
