Cate Blanchett looks to be taking a spot among the titans, as the multiple Academy Award winner is in final negotiations to join the cast of the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok.

This would be Blanchett’s first foray into the superhero realm, mastering nearly every other type of film over the years, while racking up six Oscar nominations and most likely a seventh for Todd Haynes’ Carol this year. She’s no stranger to comic-con crowd after her turn in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films.

It’s currently unknown what character Blanchett would play, but Variety reports it’s one of the leads in the Marvel Universe Phase Three film directed by Taika Wait and starring Chris Hemsworth. The film will also feature Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki.

I think it would be amazing to see an actor of Blanchett’s caliber take a prominent spot in the MCU films.
