During a recent interview with Variety Quentin Tarantino was asked who he thought would win in a fight, The Hateful Eight’s Daisy Domergue or Kill Bill’s Beatrix Kiddo? It was a dumb question, but it loosened Tarantino’s lips up regarding a possible third entry in the Kill Bill series, “I’m not committing to it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if The Bride made one more appearance before the whole thing is said and done.” He went on to say “I am talking to Uma about it just a little bit. Some of the stuff that I’d written that never made it into the movie that maybe I could use.”
There was actually quite a bit that was scripted that didn’t make the final cut of Kill Bill. Due to the ballooning budget and amount of time it took to shoot, numerous scenes were excised, though off the top of my head I don’t recall anything that could have been stretched into material for a third film. I presume he means material he’d written that didn’t end up being scripted.
I’m torn on this. As much as I’d love to see another chapter in the Kill Bill saga, I think I’d rather see him tackle some new ground. He’s spoken at length about making a well-rounded filmography, I’d love to see what he’d do with a Science Fiction film. Either way I’m game.
If you haven’t already checked out his newest, make the effort to see The Hateful Eight in its 70mm roadshow presentation. It’s a fun film full of great Tarantino characters.
