True Detective Season 2 Continues to Round out its Cast

The main players for Season 2 of HBO’s runaway hit, True Detective, are finally in place with the announcement that Lolita Davidovich (Backstrom) & James Frain (True Blood) have signed on for recurring roles on the hit drama. The new season will center on 3 police officers and a career criminal who wade through a conspiracy surrounding the brutal murder of Ben Caspar, a corrupt city manager in a fictional California city.

Davidovich will play Nancy Simpson, a former showgirl who bitter about her fading youth while desperately seeking the attention she once had from many adoring men. She is also the mother of Taylor Kitsch’s character while Frain will play Jeff Hunt, a ruthless police lieutenant. Justin Lin (Fast & Furious) will be directing the first two episodes of the eight episode season, a departure from season one. Different directors will be directing multiple episodes for season 2.

Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch & Rachel McAdams are set as the three officers while Vince Vaughn will play the criminal, Frank Semyon. Kelly Reilly, Abigail Spencer, Michael Irby & Leven Rambin round out the cast for season 2 with production starting shortly for a summer 2015 release.
